Grey County taxpayers spent over $521,000 on the remuneration, benefits and expenses of county councillors last year.
The 2018 Grey County Treasurer's Statement was brought before county council at its meeting yesterday.
Former Grey County Warden Stewart Halliday, who was voted out of office in the fall election, earned the most at the county council table last year with salary and benefits totalling more than $59,000.
Halliday was also the biggest spender. The report indicates he had expenses and mileage reimbursed of more than $23,000.
The majority of other county councillors earned salary and benefit packages between $18,000 and $21,000, varying based on meeting attendance and time served.
Those who were newly elected in the fall earned remuneration of just over $1,400 for the one month they were on county council in 2018.
