As Many As 1,700 Pigs Die In Kincardine Fire

OPP report a barn fire resulted in significant losses with estimates at around $1.5 million.

South Bruce OPP along with firefighters from Kincardine, Ripley and Tiverton  responded late Monday night to a barn fire that has resulted in significant losses to a pig farm operation.

Shortly after 11:30, OPP arrived on scene of the barn fire located on Highway 9 east of Kincardine.

They report it resulted in significant losses with initial estimates being around $1.5 million dollars.

An estimated 1,500 to 1,700 pigs died and a barn was completely destroyed.

An investigator from the Office of the Fire Marshal is investigating.

At this point in time, police say the fire is not believed to be suspicious in nature.
